Prayer for All Good Things In Life

Hi, I’m pastor John, a.k.a. Rev. Dr. John R. Guerre, a.k.a. Pj a.k.a. the Polo Pastor. You can call me whatever you like just not late for dinner. Get it? I’m called the Polo Pastor because I love, and have always loved polo shirts, big beautiful polos of every kind, design, and color imaginable (especially the ones on sale). I try wear a polo each and every day. I eat in polos, work in polos, golf in polos, having meetings in polos, pray in polos, and best of all, preach in polos. And if my wife would ever let me, I’d sleep in polos (she won’t-she wouldn’t even let wear one for our wedding which by the way we celebrated for the 36th time yesterday). So from here on out you feel free to call me “Pj the Polo Pastor.”

Today’s polo pastoral devotion is from 3 John 2

Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul prospers.

I like to call this a prayer for every good in life. John, the Beloved Disciple, prays that we might:

(1) “Enjoy good health.” Wow, that’s a good one. They say, “Health is wealth” and if you “Have your health you have everything.” That’s not entirely true but it’s certainly a great start.

(2) “That all may go well with you.” This is a prayer that our daily activities, whatever they are, would go splendidly, even as we do them all, as Paul said in I Corinthians 10:31, “For the glory of God.”

(3) “Even as your soul prospers.” Here John wants both our physical bodies and daily activities to match the prospering our souls. If we want that too we need to ask how our souls prosper?

Our souls are the immaterial us. Kind of who we are apart from our physicality. How then do our souls prosper? They prosper by being in an interactive, harmonious, dynamic, and loving relationship with the One who created us in his image and breathed his life into our souls. Namely Jesus Christ, our Lord/Savior-Leader/Forgiver.

So make sure you dedicate your day, daily activities, and physical health to the only one who loves you enough to die for you. If you do, you will enjoy all the good things God has planned for all those who love him.

My prayer for you today is that you might enjoy some unimaginable soul prosperity even as you keep your sunny side up and your bottoms dry!
